Oman nearly halfway to target in recruitment drive for nationals

DUBAI: More than 1,000 Omanis have interviewed for jobs in the private sector, the Ministry of Manpower announced on Monday, national daily Times of Oman reported.
According to statistics released by the ministry, the appointment of locals in jobs in the private sector has neared the halfway mark of the set goal of 25,000 jobs between December and February.
Meanwhile, the Omani oil and gas sector announced the creation of 3,000 jobs in the sector, which would form part of the 25,000 jobs allocated for Omanis in the private sector.
In October 2017, Oman’s council of ministers announced that 25,000 jobs would be created for local citizens in both public and private sectors within six months starting from December of that year.
